Keer America, which is completing construction on its 230,000-square-foot textile spinning facility in Indian Land, has listed several positions with ReadySC to begin the training and hiring process.
The initial list of jobs are the first of more than 160 positions expected to be filled in the coming weeks and months as Keer completes the facility and begins operations in the first quarter of 2015.
“Keer has been hiring office and support staff the past few months, but they have started the process of hiring workers for the manufacturing facility,” said Keith Tunnell, Lancaster County Economic Development Corp. president. “These positions are being listed with ReadySC, which is responsible for assisting Keer with training and hiring support.
“I urge anyone interested in a job with Keer to visit this website weekly as Keer will list new opportunities as the hiring process continues as they get closer to opening the facility.”
There are eight positions listed on ReadySC’s website at http://www.readysc.org/keer/ .
The website has information explaining how to apply for the positions. More job postings will be added in the coming weeks.
There also may be some upcoming Keer training opportunities for local residents through ReadySC.
Chinese textile company Keer Group selected Lancaster for its first facility outside of China. The company’s $218 million investment is expected to create 501 jobs within five years.
“During our search, South Carolina quickly rose to the top of our list,” said Zhu Shan Qing, chairman of Keer Group. “We chose to locate our first U.S. facility in South Carolina for a number of reasons, which include the state’s workforce, proximity to cotton producers and access to the port. We look forward to a successful partnership with the state and the local community as we get this facility up and running during the next year.”
There the company will produce industrial cotton yarn, taking advantage of South Carolina’s location within the heart of the nation’s cotton-producing region.
